He always wanted to put his arms around her and give her a hug
But in that part of the world people never hugged
He was told that men should never give hugs; men use their arms only to fight and strangle other men
She was told that women should never give hugs; women use their arms to hail and wave for the men killing one another
He dreamt of one little hug; he dreamt of one little real hug
But she always cried in fear when she remembered her father's arms
And then came the day when they finally did hug. This news turned into an ugly crow and flew into the city
Everyone knew their shameful secret:
They were in love
Brothers locked their sisters in; mothers told them horrifying stories
Fathers sharpened their knives
When the angry men surrounded them they were still hugging.
And when they had their last breath; they were still hugging
And when they buried them right there; they were still hugging
A century later,a thoughtful archaeologist tried to bring them apart;
they clang together; he tried harder
tears were seen on the ground
Few only noticed it was not the archaeologist who cried!
Centuries later, the ugly crow is still in town!
